To ensure a safe and harmonious school environment, we have established high expectations for student behavior. By establishing consequences for inappropriate behavior, we encourage students to accept responsibility for their actions and to practice more responsible decision making in the future.
Students with three or more detentions or campus-clean up assignments or any suspensions in a trimester will lose student activity privileges such as participation in school sports, dances and student clubs.

Respect

• Students will comply with any school staff member’s verbal or written expectations in or outside the classroom.

• Students will respect each other without prejudice against gender, race, socio-economic status or religion.

• Students will use appropriate language with all members of the school community. Put-downs and profane language or gestures are not acceptable.

• Students will respect school property and the property of others.

If I choose not to comply with these expectations of respect, the consequence for my actions may be to…

• Have a meeting with the teacher. Parents will be notified by the teacher.

• Apologize verbally and/or in writing to the offended person or persons.

• Write a letter to my parents detailing the incident.

• Have a meeting with the Assistant Principal. Depending upon the severity and frequency of the disrespect, may result in the assignment of detention, campus clean-up or suspension.

Responsibility

• Students will complete all assigned class work and homework.

• Students will not bring items to school that may detract from the educational process. This includes but is not limited to: iPods, mp3 players, electronic games, Pokemon cards, or toys.

• Students will keep cell phones put away and powered OFF during school hours.

If I choose not to comply with these expectations of responsibility, the consequence for my actions may be to…

• Receive an assignment to attend “Saturday School” to have the opportunity to complete unfinished assignments. This is not optional. There will be consequences for failure to attend.

The first time a student is found in possession of a prohibited object or has a cell phone powered on during class, the object will be confiscated and returned to the student at the end of the school day. If this happens again, the object will be confiscated, the parents notified and a parent will have to pick up the object at the end of the school day. If this happens a third time, parents will be notified, a parent will have to pick up the object at the end of the school day and the student will lose the privilege of possessing a phone for the remainder of the trimester.

Safety

• Students will not use or possess drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, any type of weapon, fireworks, or explosives.

• Students will resolve conflicts non-violently.

If I choose not to comply with these expectations of safety, the consequence for my actions may be to…

• Notify parents. Conference with parent, administrator, student and possibly school resource officer

• Receive a suspension of 1-5 days or possible expulsion

• Notify authorities or firemen, suspension and possible expulsion

• If a student belongs to or presents him/herself as a gang member, the administration will contact the police
