Certificated Application Information and Current Vacancies

Requirements for Certificated Positions:

  • Appropriate valid California teaching credential
  • CBEST if applicant has not taught in the California public school system within the last 39 months
  • Credential authorizing instruction to English Learner students (SB 2042) or LDS, SDAIE, CLAD, BCLAD, or CTEL certification
  • Induction participation for all first and second year teachers is provided and paid by the District.
  • All teachers of core subject areas must demonstrate that they are No Child Left Behind compliant

Professional Development Opportunities:

  • Beginning teachers who are in their first or second year in the teaching profession will be supported through the North Coast School of Education (NCSOE) Induction Program.  Formerly known as Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment Program (BTSA), Induction  provides new teachers with a partnership experience with a veteran teacher to further develop and refine teaching practices.  Induction also helps teachers clear their preliminary credentials.
  • Each school site creates and implements a professional development plan for certificated staff related to the school’s Single Plan for Student Achievement.

Important Notes Regarding Employment and the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001:

  • Employees who are offered a position in the District must be fingerprinted and have those fingerprints cleared by the Department of Justice (DOJ) before their first day of service with the district. Actual hire date will be no earlier than the date that fingerprint clearance is received from the DOJ. There is a fee required by the DOJ, payable by the District to process fingerprints.
  • All teachers of core subjects are expected to be “Highly Qualified Teachers” and compliant with No Child Left Behind. For further information, visit the California Department of Education’s website at www.cde.ca.gov and look under “Highlights” for No Child Left Behind details.

Process for Submitting a Complete Application:

  • All Applications and required documentation are submitted through EdJoin, see link above.
  • A complete application consists of the following (incomplete applications will not be considered):
    • A cover letter specific to your qualifications for the position
    • A résumé
    • A copy of appropriate credential(s)
    • Copies of transcripts showing degrees awarded (official transcripts will be required at time of employment)
    • A minimum of three letters of recommendation (evaluations are not letters of recommendation)
  • Applications must be received by noon on the date of closing


  • Applicant packets will be evaluated by District staff.  Invitations for interview will be extended to those candidates who appear to be the most qualified for the position on the basis of the written material presented.
