A Special Thank You….We would like to extend our thanks to Boy Scout Troop #32 and Zach Freese, Eagle Scout Candidate, for the wonderful improvements they made to the Mattie campus. Thanks to Zach’s planning, with guidance from Kindergarten teacher, Lucine Luna, and with the hard work of Boy Scout Troop #32, we have a beautiful new outdoor stage. This stage will provide an exciting place for our students to perform. Along with the stage the troop also did landscape improvements and painted our planer boxes. We really appreciate all of their hard work. Come by and see their all that they did for Mattie.

Back To School Night
Please join us for our Annual Back to School Night on Thursday, September 2nd at 6:30 PM. This is a great chance for parents to hear all about the programs at Mattie.

Dear Parents,

It is a pleasure to be the principal at Mattie Washburn School and to be a part of your child’s first school experience. Mattie offers students a warm and loving learning environment, while providing a strong academic foundation to prepare them to progress through the years. Teachers develop lessons, which are fun and creative and engage the students to promote learning. The curriculum meets all state standards with a focus on math and reading instruction.

Students enjoy many exciting activities at Mattie, including weekly grade level music. The students at Mattie love to perform and the addition of a new outdoor stage give us even more places to show off the talents of our students. Regular fieldtrips to local Sonoma County attractions (Pumpkin Patch, Apple Farms, etc.) and to the Wells Fargo Performing Arts Center adds to the student's classroom curriculum.

Volunteers are always welcome at Mattie. Parents, Grandparents, family members, and community members work with us on a regular basis to support our students. If you have a child coming to Mattie or if you are interested in education in Windsor, we would love to have you volunteer. For more information, please call the Volunteer Hotline at 525-4787 ext. 18.

If you are new to Windsor or have a child coming to school for the first time, I would be happy to answer any quesitons you may have, please call me at 837-7727 or email me at bjones@wusd.org

I look forward to working with you and your child!!

Sincerely,
