The Director of Educational Support Services is directly responsible to the Superintendent of Schools for the operation of curriculum, instruction, assessment and reporting, state and federal categorical programs, technology, library, special education and other student support services. The District has worked very hard the last several years in developing language arts, mathematics, social studies and science standards and in implementing a comprehensive staff development program to help teachers and instructional assistants improve each student’s academic performance. Performance assessment results and standardized test scores have shown significant progress over the past several years.

The District’s efforts have included developing a thorough assessment system that uses a variety of sources to help measure each student’s level of achievement. These measurements include standardized tests, local performance assessments (including writing samples, analysis of oral reading and comprehension skills, progress towards mastery of math facts, problem-solving, and algebra), and Advanced Placement Class performance. Teachers use this assessment and evaluation information system to individualize their academic program to best meet the needs of each student.

The District takes its role of education very seriously and wants to work with parents and families as partners in educating and enriching the lives of its students. Windsor schools offer the opportunity to the “Gateway of Learning”.
